Default story

At Starbuck's this morning, my neighbor told me the following story. It
seems a man her husband used to work with had a contentious divorce.
This was they nasty kind where credit cards get run up; bad words are
spoken; lawyers make money; each stays up nights figuring out new and
creative ways to screw the other. The wife got the house and dog. She
didn't want the dog. She knew that he wanted the dog, and getting the
dog was one more way to give the big **** you to her soon to be
ex-husband. As soon as the divorce was final, she dropped the dog off
at the pound and left without saying goodbye. He found out, called the
pound, discovered that his dog had been adopted out to someone else. He
begged and pleaded on the phone. They agreed to explain the situation
to the new adopter. The adopter explained that she was pleased with her
new dog and didn't want to give him up. The dog had a good home, and
the previous owner should be happy with that. Then she relented and
told the folks at the pound that they could give they guy her phone
number. She thought he could visit his old dog and see that everything
was O.K. He phoned. He visited. She's single. They're engaged to be
married.
