Default Two dogs - 1 year olds

Hi,

I have two year old dogs. One's a mix - black lab/border collie, the
other is a black lab/german sheppard. The collie can hold in his "pee"
and "poo" for hours. Actually, he will no longer "pee or poo" in the
house (they had a corner as puppies). But the other, doesn't seem to get
it. We know he can hold it in as when we are there for the day, we make
sure to not bring him outside between 8am and 4pm and he holds it in, no
problem. But at night or during the day while we are at work, he
continually "poos" and "pees" in the house, in that same corner. We
tried using a crate for him overnight and it worked a few nights. One
night, he barked us awake so we could take him out for a pee. I took him
out before going to bed but he didn't pee) and another night, he just
went in the cage (he had diarrhea in all fairness to him).

Anyhow, one seems to have "gotten it", the other seems to not "get it".
Any tips and/or tricks you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
