Barking while walking
Hey all. I have a 6 year old border collie cross. We also had an older dog
that we just recently lost. Since the loss of his buddy when we try to take this guy for a walk, he barks non stop. At everything and anything or nothing at all. We live in a residential area and the barking is seriously annoying for everyone. In the house he occasionally barks when someone comes up the driveway etc.... but as soon as I tell him "quiet", he stops. On his leash, this isn't the case, the "quiet" command means nothing and he just keeps going. It has been a month of this with no end in sight. I am at a loss and would welcome any suggestions. This is a dog that requires no effort to teach anything to normally. He is extremely obedient and well behaved in all other situations. He always listens on the first command and at 6 yrs old is still learning new tricks etc... so brains is not an issue. Except for mine..... I cannot think of a way to fix this. Thanks in advance for any replies. |
