The very first "puppy class" photo. Cracked me up.

For those who are dismayed about the whole concept of a puppy agility
class, this is where Angel and I start agility lessons next month, and
where I took Laika a few years ago. They're 100% safety and health
conscious, and would never encourage anything that might hurt a dog.
I'm sure this is more of a play class than anything else.

Those aren't puppies. Those are piglets.

I teach puppy agility and its both fun and agility prep. Its easy to find
safe puppy exercises.

On Thu, 06 May 2004 18:11:11 GMT kilikini whittled these words:

I would love to get my 11 month old Aussie in agility training, but we don't
have any classes where I live.

Where (roughly) is that?

I realize that I couldn't compete with him
because we don't have a program like this here, but he'd be perfect at it
and I think he'd love it.

Where is "here". There are agility programs in many countries and far
flung parts of the world. Sometimes you have to travel a bit.

He's already climbing everything in sight, crawls
under chairs, and effortlessly jumps over the back of the couch - much to my
chagrin! I'd like to turn his energy into something useful like agility
training.

I've read lots of articles (no books yet) but they're over my head because
I'm not familiar with some of the terms.

Its far easier to learn from video tapes if you can't get in person
instruction.

If I can learn this, maybe I can start a program here through our local
shelter, but for now, I'm on my own. Does anyone have any good books on the
subject that can teach the basic commands and clue in as to how to possibly

There are several, but if money is tight start with video tapes as you
will get further if you can see what is being discussed. Its been a long
time since I evaluated any and there have been several new ones so I'm
not making any recommendations.

build the equipment needed? The equipment would have to be portable because
I don't have a yard. I would have to take these things to the park.

I did the hauling equipment around thing for a long time. I have some
instructions for practice type equipment with the caution that some of it
may teach bad habits if one is planning on competing.

For better stuff I
have an agility equipment resources list which randomly lists suppliers
of equipment and suppliers of plans for equipment.
