Default Dog diabetes, Gourdin ??

I have a female lab , 4 years old who is diabetic. We currently give her
6 units of insulin twice a day. Does anyone know any thing about this
" Gourdin" I have read about on the web. They say it reduces, or
eliminates the need for injections and helps the pancress to recover.
Has any body used this , or is this all bs.

any help is appreciate.

Kevin, if you don't hear about it from your vet, I wouldn't touch it
with a ten foot pole. Most of these nostrums advertised on the web are
a big hoax visited upon the paranoid consumer who cannot think
critically and who wants to think that traditional medicine is denying
them a miracle.

You can't restore that which is no longer there..... mainly the Islets
of Langerhans which produce the insulin.... Enough of them are GONE
(permanently damaged or dead) that your dog requires some insulin. No
miracle supplement will bring them back... because there IS no miracle
supplement. If it was a miracle supplement you'd be asked by your vet
to use it.... and it would be a routine part of management of diabetes
in humans.

Your dog is on an extremely low dose of insulin. Thank your good care
and a smart vet for that. And keep up the good work.

I thought this had to be snake oil. I knew this sounded to good to be
true, wich ususlly turns out to be the case. I just wanted to be sure I
was doing everything I could to keep her happy, and healthly. She did
weigh 117 in May of this year, so we put her on Iams weight control, and
got her weight under control. She is now at 89 pounds, and can get
around much better. We have a very good vet, and always follow her
advice. Thanks for the help.
