Best Place on Dog's Body to Inject Insulin
I have been giving injections (twice daily) for two years, to my 9 year
old beagle. My vet instructed me for 1/2 hour on the procedure which used the loose skin area on the neck to do the injection. My son's beagle will be starting to receive injections and his vet says the neck area is the poorest place to inject insulin because it has poor absorption qualities. My dog's ophthalmologist tech. gave an injection in the neck area and all I have read shows injections in the neck area. Who is right? I have a difficult time regulating my dog's insulin requirements so I would like to know if there is an alternative. I trust my vet's judgment and I hate to question him by referencing another vet's opinion. TIA Don F |
