Robeson Woman Sentenced For Conducting Gynelogical Tests On Dog
Woman Tried To Revive Dog With Mouth-To-Mouth Resuscitation POSTED: 7:22 pm EDT June 9, 2004 LUMBERTON, N.C. -- A Robeson County woman was sentenced to 45 days in jail for animal cruelty after investigators determined she administered gynecological tests to her dog. Treza Ann Sweeney, 47, of Lumberton, was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty in December 2003 and pleaded no contest to the charge Tuesday, according to Katherine Floyd, an animal cruelty investigator for Robeson County. Sweeney admitted giving pap smears to her Boston terrier, Floyd said. Judge Greg Bell sentenced Sweeney to 45 days in jail with 20 days credit for time served after she was jailed for contempt of court and refusal to submit to a psychiatric evaluation, Floyd said. The dog was found dead in Sweeney's home after she reported it stolen in December. Floyd said when she arrived at Sweeney's home, she found Sweeney trying to revive the dog by mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The dog appeared to have been dead for a couple of days, Floyd said. |

I wonder how they determined that she gave the dog Pap smears. That's not a regular part of a canine physical exam , is it? Weird enough that she did that, but even weirder that its a crime! |
