Sheesh.

Damn, I hate liberals more each day.

My opinion has little to do with who he was, what he did for the country, etc.

I find displaying and carting bodies around, followed by burial, to be an
unpleasant and wasteful practice. Nothing to do with being liberal,
conservative, or middle of the road.

That's an interesting view. What would you prefer.?
I thought Reagans funeral was impressive. I bet he would have been
chuffed.
Who was the bloke who sang Amazing Grace? That's one of my favourite
hymns.

Cremation. The services - no problem there. I find the whole casket thing
unpleasant. I find embalming bizarre. OTOH - Six Feet Under started again
last night, and I'll be watching it tonight "on demand", so I guess FICTIONAL
funeral prep is ok! ;-D

From: Handsome Jack Morrison

Sure it does, Janet.

You know what I hate more than you hate liberals Jack? People who decide they
know what other people think.

Otherwise you'd never think to begrudge a man of his importance to our
country a state funeral.

I have no problem with the funeral. Just the casket.

It's not like we have them every few weeks, is it?

Hopefully not.

Well, it's hard to have a *state* funeral in California when all state
funerals are conducted in D.C., in the Capitol Rotunda to be precise,
where the body "lies in *state.*"

See - that's the part I find unappealing. The body in the casket. The whole
practice, bugs me.

Should he and Nancy have moved to D.C. before he died, just to spare
us the expense of having to transport his body there one day?

Hardly. Why can't a ceremony take place without a casket? They could have
cremated him, Nancy could have carried him on the plane, and they could have
put the urn in a casket with a flag for the mourners to look at. Unlike the
coffins of those soldiers losing their lives overseas.

Alas, too bad he wasn't a Fairy Tale Princess, like Lady Di, otherwise
the wailing and gnashing of teeth would have went on for weeks and
weeks (see: The Dianarama).

I don't give a rats ass about Princess Di. I think the media frenzy around
both her life and death, was pretty annoying.

Anyway, when his image is carved in the side of a mountain in South
Dakota one day, I guess "you people" will *really* become unhinged
then, and the mere thought of that makes me smile.

"you people"? Don't decide what kind of person I am Jack - you'd be wrong.
