Default Swimming

Hi,

Excuse my total ignorance but I'm looking for guidance on when I could
let my pup near/in water deeper than a few inches? Jake LOVES water
and I see loads of owners throwing sticks into the local river for
their dogs to retrieve - but I'm so scared Jake will get into
difficulty!! I guess my question is do dogs just swim regardless of
age (he's a five month Border Collie and pretty big already).

Thanks - he's just dying to have fun in the hot weather

Lynda
