Default flea treatment for small dogs

I have an 8 month old male papillon. He weighs about 7 pounds. The vet
gave us Frontline Plus for flea treatment. Frontline Plus is nice
because it addresses ticks which can be a problem where we walk in
Ohio.

I am concerned that the packages says for dogs 11-22 pounds. Do any of
you have experience or advice using Frontline PLUS on dogs smaller
than 11 pounds?

Thanks,
Matt.
