A side trip to Novice
Went to an ASCA trial this week-end. It was a nice trial. Decent weather, nice people, reasonable facility. It was a very pleasant two days. Last week I talked about running in Open. It turned out I ran one day in open and one day in Novice. I wrote up the description but it got a little long so I decided to just put a link to my website. http://dog-play.com/Activities/Herding/4Jul2004.html I know, I know, long has never stopped me before. :-) -- Diane Blackman http://dog-play.com/ http://dogplay.com/Shop/ |

What a learning opportunity! I got some of that kind of feedback this weekend from the senior competitor I was speaking of in my post: she'd come over after a series and mutter, "You do know that that [awkward bit] was entirely your fault, don't you?" Then she'd explain the handler errors and how they affected the dog. There is so much to remember! -- Kate and Storm the FCR |

The most supportive comments I get is constant reminders that it takes time to build experience and it takes experience to do well. And most comments about HIM don't even come close to "why are you doing this". 90% of them are telling me that what he *really* needs is to be doing this full time. Or a lot of the time. That the once a week training is a big barrier. And they are right. But I'm glad that there are quire a few people who are supportive of trying despite that barrier. I mean I'm thrilled to see his obvious joy and enthusiasm even if it makes my job harder. I guess I love Tsuki in part because of the challenges, not in spite of them. -- Diane Blackman http://dog-play.com/ http://dogplay.com/Shop/ |
