People Who Shouldn't Have Dogs pt. 2
would somebody please kill me, rightthisminute?
advTHANKSance. the friend of mine who expressed interest in a Boxer has once again broached the subject, as if the previous conversation had never taken place. thud! i'm running out of ways to say "a stuffed dog might be too much of a commitment for you." -- shelly (perfectly foul wench) and elliott and harriet http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette |

Maybe you've been too subtle. Hand her a stuffed dog and say "keep this
happy and in one piece for six months and then I'll talk to you about getting a gerbil--you can work your way up from there." ;-P Seriously: if (S)he is intent on getting a dog, there is (unfortunately) nothing you can say to dissuade him/her. Maybe trying to direct her towards a good local rescue group--one that will screen her carefully--is the best course of action. Or suggest that she contact the rescue group and offer to volunteer for a while--maybe taking dogs for short periods of time will open their eyes to just how *huge* a commitment they're thinking of making is. Short of that, don't kill yourself--kill your friend. And remember: a friend will help you hide the body, but a dog will dispose of the bones ;-P Marie "shelly" wrote in message arble.net... would somebody please kill me, rightthisminute? advTHANKSance. the friend of mine who expressed interest in a Boxer has once again broached the subject, as if the previous conversation had never taken place. thud! i'm running out of ways to say "a stuffed dog might be too much of a commitment for you." -- shelly (perfectly foul wench) and elliott and harriet http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette |
