Strange behaviour
I posted before about my BC cross, Gus. After the loss of his life long
buddy the Airedale, he started barking non stop during walks. Well, I walked alongside a friend and her dog and lo and behold.... no barking. So it was indeed that he missed the Airedale. Now we have another issue that has surfaced. When he is home alone and has free run in the house, he piddles but only in spots that were the Airedale's favorite sleeping places. He only does this when he's left alone and free. If I gate him to my bedroom, no trouble. I know the answer is obviously to gate him when I go out... end of problem but I am wondering... could he be afraid without the bigger, bolder dog? Gus is fairly timid and shy. Could it be fear that causes the barking when alone on a walk and the piddling when alone in the house? And if it is indeed fear, how int he world do I help him overcome that? Thanks for the input.
