Default have a boy, 2nd dog better to be a boy or girl?

I have a boy dog now, and when we're around other dogs at the park,
etc he usually tries to be the alpha dog (he's a german shepherd).

I'm getting a Lab puppy, would it be better for the puppy to be a boy
or girl?

Opposite sexes is usually the best chance of success.
