Question on additional dog
I've been thinking recently on getting a companion for my male Lab.
Neo, at 2 years old, is the softest, most lovable dog anyone could ever want, sometimes overly so. He doesn't bark, doesn't eat the house up, doesn't howl, in fact he has no bad traits at all. The problem is, both my wife and I work full time. This wasn't the case when we first got Neo, but as needs must. I've been thinking of another dog for 2 reasons. Firstly for companionship for Neo. Being on his own for 7 hours a day........well there's no way I will get rid of him, but do dogs need companions as we do ? The second reason is for security. Neo is that soft he will lick anyone that tries to burgle the house. I don't want a guard dog, just a dog that will make an intruder think twice. I'm thinking along the lines of a German Shepherd, my wife is veering towards the Alaskan Malamute or Canadian Eskimo. Any thoughts ? (BTW we have 2 boys, 8 and 11) Thanks in advance Alan |
