Continual Circling
A friend of mine bought a 2 year old bitch from a rescue kennel, 5
weeks later the dog gave birth to 5 healthy pups. They were unaware that the dog was pregnant but as they had taken on the responsibilty of their new pet they also took on the new pups without question. Thier only concern is the unusual behaviour of the dog. She circles non-stop! it's not the tail chasing thing that dogs do, this is more methodical...pacing around in circles on and on and on. She stops for a minute or so, holds her head down and sorta looks between her front legs or stares at the floor then continues to pace in a circle. She reminds me of a caged animal that paces up and down without a break. She's a beautiful dog and very loving, she shows no sign of any aggresive behaviour, although she is in my opinion a poor mother and has to be shown the pups when they cry to be fed. This could be because she is very young and has probably being neglected in the past. How do they stop this behaviour? Do anyone have any thoughts on the subject? Christine |
