Default Killfile

Someone recently asked me what "Killfile" meant, and it occurred to me that
some of the people visiting this site might not know, either.

To wit: If you are using Outlook Express and upon reading a message decided
you do not wish to be bothered with future messages from that source, simply
go to the top of your screen and click on "Message". On that menu you will
see "Block Sender". Click on that, and you are done.....messages from that
address will not appear in your future mail. (When you make the final
click, you may see a query as to whether or not you would like to have all
messges from that source erased from your computer....that is up to
you....but the important thing is that you will not received any new ones.)
I'm sure that the Macs have something similar, but I don't know the details.

Yes, there definitely is. He is easily killfiled. I've killfiled him for
years, and so have many others. I've also killfiled a few people who
insisted on replying to him. Actually, that's more of a problem than he is.

Bottom line is this: He doesn't engage in abuse that ISPs will act on.

I wonder about this. Is calling people animal abusers and murderers
"free speech" or just annoying? Is posting detailed information about
medications, mental states, etc. merely "annoying" or is it harassing?
Is making up lies about people and posting that garbage all over
public areas not abuse?

I'm not disagreeing with you, just questioning. Being annoying is one
thing, but this person go way, far beyond that - including false
advertising to the extreme.

Like a number of other newbies, I believe you may be confusing the PW and
Mike - Mikey's usually the one posting the "mental heath" crap. And what he
does is shitty and obnoxious, but since he gleaned the information from
public newsgroups, it's not illegal or in violation of his TOS for him to
dig it up and post it.
