Default arthritis/bladder

i am new to your group, but as my dog ages, i think i need to stick close!

GUCCI (giant schnauzer) is 11 years old and after a trip to the vet (because
it was obvious to us that her hips were giving her more problems and she was
losing urine)
we find that she has severe arthritis in her hips.
after a COMPLETE blood panel, kidney disease is ruled out, and the vet
thinks she just has an "old bladder, that needs sphincter support." (common
among spade female dogs)

gucci has been placed on RIMADYL 100 mg twice daily.
PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE three times daily.

does this sound right?
how about expense, is there a substitute for the RIMADYL?
(one aspirin was not working)

thanks,
rosie
