Default people suck part 297

so today, on the way to work, i found a small white goat chained to a tree
on the side of the road. she did not have access to food or water, and had
wrapped the chain around the tree so that she only had about a 10 foot
radius to move in.
she was extremely friendly, and i considered taking her to a shelter that
handles livestock, but she was padlocked to the chain (!). i called animal
control, brought her some water and some hay from the neighbor's place.

i hope she's ok, i didn't have time to wait for animal control to show up.

she was so incredibly sweet! i had no idea goats were so loving! now i
*really* want a pair of goats!

OH, and just so it's not OT, there's a local Akita who is constantly loose
in that area. i hope to doG that he's locked in his yard securely today.

Did you tell AC that you were leaving water for the goat? Not sure about
where you live but in the Carolinas if an animal has shelter & water (food
doesn't have to be present at all times) then the animal isn't considered to
be neglected or mistreated. I know of rescuers who've tried to help dogs
who were left outside with no food or water and when AC came they didn't
find against the owners because water and/or food was now present.
