Default dog-safe paints...

Howdy All... this is my first post to this group! I recently was
enamored by the book Why Paint Cats, as was my dog Url! He wants to
get a lightning bolt on his side but I can't seem to find the right
paints. The artists' in the book use "vegetable dye" based paints, but
my local stores (not many as I'm in a small town) don't carry them and
my web-searches have come up short. Anyone have any links, tips,
recipes, thoughts, experiences, etc?

It's quite possible that the artists, if they are trained, as opposed to
"just doing it", made their own paints using the vegetable dyes ....
They likely would have had some training or have resources to learn the
techniques. You might also try artists supply companies... gotta be a
zillion of them on the web.... Maybe some library reserch?

I have known a few whacky young groomers who used food coloring on their
white (standard poodles) to "decorate" for holidays. grin And
regular hair dye of the "rinse" variety has been used to intensify brown
and black markings on white dogs with spots, and cover undesired white
spots...
