Default Dogs' Menses/Periods?

I think that one of my female pups (Pho, "First One"), is having her
first period, bleeding. She was born in January (I believe).

What is the usual age, for female pups to start having their periods?

This can vary widely. A husky puppy in our puppy kindergarten class went
into heat at less than 4 months old! A friend of mine has a Rhodesian
Ridgeback that did not go into heat until she was almost 2 years old. I
suspect that was due to a thyroid problem which was later diagnosed though.
For my RR, it was 10 months and then 10 months in between heats thereafter..

Estrus usually occurs the first time between 6 & 12 months of age, or when
you least want it to happen:-)
