Default Dog Eating Habits

New to the group and wanted to ask some advice. I got an 18 month old
shepherd mix
from a shelter about 2 months ago. He's gotten a clean bill of health,
despite the flea
infestation he came with that is now cleared up.

He has always had a healthy appetite, wolfing down his food. Lately,
however, for his
morning meal, he eats a little, goes away, eats some more, etc, finally
after a few hours
I put it away as I don't want food out all day long. This has been
going on for a nearly a week.

I should add that he chows down no problem on his evening meal and that
there have been
no changes in the kind of food I give him.

Any ideas?
