Agility trial Jekyll and Hyde
Trip went to another agility trial today. I've decided to run him in preferred
so that I have an extra five seconds to try and get us around the course. This was his first trial since the spring. There weren't many dogs in front of him in standard so I had him out and near the ring a little earlier than I usually do. He went nuts! He was screaming, barking, pulling on the leash and in general acting like a nutcase. The course started with a jump to the dog walk to the weaves to the table. He crashed through the first jump to get to the dog walk. Flew over the dog walk, did hit his contacts, blew past the weaves and kept jumping on and off the table, wanting to do the rest of the course. The judge never even got to start her count on the table. Finally I asked to be excused. The judge was kind enough to comment on his drive:-) In JWW he was an angel. We had a momentary bobble with a refusal that also cost us a few seconds but he got his first ever jumpers leg! I was so tickled. And he had second place as well. I know for all you big time agility people a jumpers leg and second place is probably a very common occurance, but I'm still grinning like a fool.
