Default Post surgery skin irritation on GR

My golden retreiver had ACL surgery last Tues. on his left rear leg. He has
developed slight skin irritation due to licking which I can handle. I am
concerned about a red area just outside his bandage on the rear portion of
his thigh. The area feels "fatty" and is red with irritation. It does not
seem to be caused by the bandage as it is snug but not tight. The vet tech
told me when we left if his toes claws begin to separate, then he has an
infection and his toe claws show no sign of separating. If anyone can shed
any light on this, it would be appreciated. We have a return visit to the
Vet. on Monday.
