Hi everybody! I've got a german shepard that has been dx'ed with canine
lupus. It's pretty much under control with an occasional tab of
prednisone and nasal drops. My question is about whether itching is a
symptom.....she is going nuts scratching and I'm wondering if it's
related and what I can do to relieve it. Anyone had any experience with
this and have suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Lupus can cause hives and itching as a symptom. The prednisone should
take care of this if the dose is correct. Prednisone should only be
given at the direction of a vet and has to be tapered slowly and also
taken with food.

Thanks, Gen. I've been giving her prednisone the way my vet has been
telling me to. She doesn't seem to have hives or skin discoloration so
it's probably another problem. I've been lazy, guess I"ll call the vet
and ask her what she thinks.
