Default tsunami animal relief

I just saw on the news that there is a need for help for animals (dogs,
cats, and livestock) affected by the tsunami tragedy. Does anyone know of
organizations that are going to be providing relief so that I can make a
contribution?
Thank you.
Margaret

wow.

are you aware that there are hundreds of thousands of people without food,
shelter, or clean water? and you're worried about the *dogs*?

i consider myself an animal lover, but this just seems a bit over the top to
me.

Contact the Humane Society and see if they're going to contribute.
They'd probably be the best source. I wouldn't trust any organization
I didn't already know.

There's no reason why one can't be worried about humans *and* animals
and make a contribution to agencies that help people and agencies that
help animals.
Governments and agencies are rightly donating millions of pounds to
help people but who helps the animals?

Hi Margaret,
This question has been asked on other pet forums and two websites
have been mentioned (below).

Yes, I am well aware of the dire need of thousands of people. You might
want to be aware that these people also depend upon livestock (cattle,
goats, etc.) as part of their livelihoods. The animals will be no good to
them if they have starved to death or died of disease. Also you might want
to consider the emotional needs of these devastated people who just might
receive some solace from their companion animals. And you might want to
think about the spread of disease and risk of rabies from unhealthy animals.
In a disaster there are many situations and problems to address. Animal
relief is one of them.

I know our RSPCA in Australia has a site to donate money for the animals
through the Red Cross. Not sure what is available else where
