Hi, could anybody point me in the right direction of German Shepherd related
books, and also good training books. We are hoping to adopt a 6 month old
GSD soon, and this will be our first GSD.

That's great that you are adopting a dog in need! I volunteer with a
GSD rescue and I STRONGLY suggest researching the breed very thoroughly
before adopting. A wonderful book for training is "Leader of the Pack"
written by Nancy Baer & Steve Duno. I also strongly suggest you get the
book and read it BEFORE you adopt, so you have an idea of what you are
doing. GSDs are great dogs, but like many dogs, they do require
training. I've been w/ the GSD rescue for over a year now and you have
no idea how many dogs have been dumped/returned to us due to behavior
problems - that is the #1 reason. The fact is, most of these behavior
problems stem from the owners not fully understanding how the dog
thinks and not providing the necessary limits and rules. Good luck,
