Default Dogs ate pencil!!

Hi,

We just got back from errands, and had our two dogs in their crate.
Apparently, one or both of them made a meal of a #2 pencil. They seem
fine (not vomiting, etc) now, but was wondering if there was anything
to worry about??

The pencil "lead" is probably the historic mixture of graphite and clay,
and typically harmless. The wood gives me the creeps; however, dogs
often chew on sticks they find on the ground.

The metal band that binds the eraser to the wood could possibly pose a
problem.

Good luck. I think you dogs will be okay.

Thanks for the info. That makes us feel much better! Luckily, it
looks like the metal and the eraser weren't very palitable to the
mutts, as it was laying in the bottom of the cage. We did find lots of
splintered wood and "lead", so it looks like they mostly just had fun
chewing it up.

We "punished" them tonight by clipping them and giving them a bath.
Hee hee.

If they didn't eat the little metal band they'll probably just poop out
everything they ate.
