Default Chihuahua Floppy Ears

I bought a chihuahua at 5mo from a breeder. He is now 7 months old and
still has floppy ears. I would love to show him because I think he is
beautiful but can't with the floppy ears. He's still teething and has
some baby teeth in still. How can I get his ears erect? Will they
become erect later when all his teeth fall? My breeder suggested
putting medical tape on the base of the ear for a few weeks. What do I
do?

Teething is generally a weird time with pointy eared dogs, they'll
stand, then they'll flop, then maybe one will stand & the other flop.

If your pup is showable, and your breeder is "in the know", I'd say
follow his/her advice. They should know their own dogs best.

As a miniature Chihuahua breeder (i ought to show pics of my Magellan) I
advise waiting a little. To use Magellan as an example:

for the first 3 months or so, his ears were flopped over. I actually
thought it was kind of cute, but that is because he will never be a show
dog (he was the runt and developed hypoglycemia). If I ever show a dog,
I will never show one that has physical illnesses. Why be deciving? I
will never breed him either, though I wish I could, but I could not
concsionably (spelling) do that (and i dont wanna hear a damned thing
about backyard breeder.)

Ok i got off track. Point being, his ears, and ever set of ears from
that lovable little pack of cuties, stood up int he end, even though most
flopped over in the beginning. I would say not worry about it too much.
Give it a few weeks.

That is what I found to work best medical paper tape .
Its the best for removal time. It only took 3 days of
tape for my Chihuahua on the middle of the ear. They are
perfect now.. He;s 3mo old...
