Hello, all: I just adopted a rescue dog, mixed breed, about 1.5 years
old. Did anyone else feel especially intimidated during the first few
weeks welcoming a dog home? I recently put my first dog to sleep after
eight years; I went through this same panic mode when I first got her.
My new dog, Finley, gets a long walk each morning and evening, and
plenty of social time at the dog park across the street from my house.
So why am I so nervous about him staying at home during the day? For
the first few weeks I will have him in a bathroom (just to make sure
he's OK with the two cats) with plenty of toys, food and water, a bed
and a radio playing. There are two windows, and it's heated nicely. Why
am I so nervous? Arg.

Also, any advice on choosing a trainer? Finley needs to learn basic
commands and I have no clue how to teach him.

His former owner did not have him neutered and we'll be doing that
shortly. Any personality changes after that!
