I actually recommend pit bulls for families with children. Raised with them,
they can be more tolerant and good-natured about kid-type shenanigans than many
other breeds.

Pit bulls do have a tendency to be aggressive - to other DOGS. Not to humans.
In fact, they're bred to fight other dogs, and the handlers have to get in
there to break it up. So they are also bred specifically NOT to be aggressive
to humans.

Any breed of dog can be a biter under the right circumstances. Sure, if a pit
bull bites you're going to get more damage than if a chihuahua bites. But a
pit bull is more UNLIKELY to bite than a chihuahua.
