puppy glucosamine / chondroitin
I have my 8 year old German Shepherd / Rottie cross on glucosamine /
chondroitin since she sometimes appears a little stiff. This is a relatively cheap brand which is glucosamine 400mg and chondroitin 75mg per tab. I think Cosequin and Synoquin (much more expensive) are approx. glucosamine 475mg and chondroitin 350mg per tab. I now have a six month old German Shepherd with no known problems with arthritis. A woman in the park with a similar age Shepherd tells me she has just put her girl on Synoquin as a preventative measure, as recommended by her vet. I have not heard or read about glucosamine / chondroitin being using preventatively for puppies before. Has anyone else put their puppy on this or know of any research that suggests it is beneficial. I am of course keen to do the best for my puppy but also understand that drug companies can be keen to sell their products too. Thanks, Mike |
