Dog bike thingie patent claim
[]
freshpatent.com provides an RSS feed of new patent applications. I like to check it out for work, but also because it's always gratifying to see people coming up with innovative ideas for new taco shell holders, etc. One that popped up in today's feed was "Dog leash for use on bicycle." It sounds a lot like a Springer, only mounted on the back wheel hanger instead of on the fork (which sounds kind of stupid to me, but no more stupid than that clip-on taco holder). http://www.freshpatents.com/Dog-leas...0050022752.php -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - All you need to know about Social Security "reform": Your in-laws are going to have to live with you |

One that popped up in today's feed was "Dog leash for use on bicycle." It'd be illegal here. Although Calgary is one of the most dog-friendly cities in North America, all tethered bicyling with a dog is not allowed. Personally, I think this is short-sighted, another example of legislation which tries to make stupidity illegal - there's no differentiation made between a Springer leash holder leading a well-trained dog and a loose leash held in the hand of a bicycle rider steering with one hand. Of course, there's no bylaw about bicycling with your off-leash puppy in an off-leash park during the height of summer. -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |
