Wiping feet
Does anyone know how to teach a dog to wipe it's feet on the mat before
coming inside. It would be much easier than having to wipe them for her. |

Break it down to as many itty bitty steps as you can. If she knows "touch," start by teaching her to touch the mat. If she doesn't, you may want to start even further back, by reinforcing a lift of the paw. Reward each step until she's doing it reliably, then raise the criteria a bit for the next step. This is the kind of training that is easiest done with a clicker, IMO. You can more easily catch minute movements, giving the dog a clearer message of which movement earned the reward. -- Leah Roberts, Family Dog Trainer It's A Dog's World http://hometown.aol.com/dfrntdrums/m...age/index.html Get Healthy, Build Your Immune System, Lose Weight http://re-vita.net/dfrntdrums |
