Lump under the tail
Hi all,
My sister has a springer spaniel that has always had some trouble with his anal sacs, which have to be emptied by the vet every so often. Now he has a lump just between the annus and the tail. It developed quickly, in just a few days: it started the size and shape of a lentil and in less than a week it was more like an almond, with the skin covering it sligthly reddish. The problem is that the vet didn't seem to know what it was. She said it looked like a tumor and, due to its location, it wasn't related to the anal sacs. She emptied those just in case and prescribed an ant-inflamatory and antibiotic cream (for a tumor?!). A few days later it seems that the lump has got smaller, but it's still there. Does anyone know what this could be? Although the cream seems to be working, my sister is not very fond of symptomatic treatment that doesn't explain the cause of the problem. Also, could it be related to the anal sacs, although it's in a slightly different place? Maybe it's not the cream but the emptying of the sacs that has made it smaller. Many thanks in advance for your comments, Carlos |
