Default PLEASE help diagnose my schnauser

My dog is 5, has what I guess you would call a skin rash, but his whole body, head to tail is bright, darkish red. Like the blood is right under the surface. On steroids and antihistemines from vet to keep him calm. Before meds he was running crazy, probably from the sensation. He recently had an operation, fatty tumor removed", but didn't seem to be an complications. Found a small tick on him eve. before operation, but vet said 7 days of atibiotics after op. should take care or that. 7 days after op, returned to vet to have drain removed and be re-wrapped. same day antibiotics stopped. Same day he started getting crazy, hiding in cold corner of basement, turning redder and redder. Running blood tests now, but vet thinks possible autoimmune disease. Any ideas anywhere? Vet wants to send me to skin specialist.
