Activated Charcoal tablets, 5-grams
Several internet "emergency care" pages and my two dog medical books
recommend that I have "Activated Charcoal tablets, 5-grams" in my emergency medical kit. I have searched the web for that item without success. Any suggestions where these tablets might be obtained? Thanks, 4thought |

Thanks. I see that they sell the 280 Mg size for human consumption as
do many other health food stores and they seem to have a relatively good price. But is it the same as the Activated Charcoal tablets (other than the obvious fact that the size is quite different), recommended for poisoning problems? One specific brand name recommended by several dog health sites is "Toxiban" which, in the liquid form, contains Kaolin. Apparently not available in tablet form. Still looking. |

The vet or even a pharmacist could tell you for sure if this is the same
thing. Celeste "4thought" wrote in message oups.com... Thanks. But Swansons is taking no changes and is not recommending it for poison control! Take a look at this: http://www.luhs.org/depts/emsc/poison.htm Look at this: http://health.yahoo.com/drug/202120/overview It looks like you need to put the powder form in solution before administering it. You can use google to find activated charcoal that meets USP standards. Here is one URL I found: http://www.brandsdirect-llc.com/CharcoCaps.htm Last week, I was informed that a puppy had consumed quite a bit of dark chocolate. They got the puppy to vomit the chocolate by administering a 3% solution of peroxide. This is sold in the drug store as a mouth wash. Here they appear to be advocating a 1.5% solution of peroxide: http://www.ehow.com/how_2434_detect-...chocolate.html One specific brand name recommended by several dog health sites is "Toxiban" which, in the liquid form, contains Kaolin.
