Jilly Bean update
I brought Jilly home yesterday afternoon. She's not the dog that left
here Monday, and the vet thinks she might not ever be the same, but she's improving by the hour. Yesterday she just had a blank stare, today she conned me out of a pice of roast beef, so I have lots of hope that we'll have Little Silly Jilly Bean back again... soon. Jilly has a defect in her heart, I'm so fried from all this I don't remember what they called it. The vet thinks there might be a genetic component since we lost Tina to organ failure, and Jilly went down so fast when anesthetized, even with the pre-op bloodwork. This little dog's teeth can rot right out of her head, I will NEVER anesthetize her after this. Taking rads in two weeks, hopefully the leg will heal normally. I have gone over the area where she was when this happened on my hands and knees, and there's nothing there. No holes, nothing. I'm guessing she stepped on a little rock just right to cause the broken bones. shrug The good news: When I walked in yesterday to pick her up and pay the final bill choke, the tech standing at the counter was a woman I knew years ago from another clinic when I did a lot of yorkie {and sometimes other breed} rescue. I'll admit I'd pull even 'lost cause' cases because at that point I had the money and time to do so. She took Jilly's file in the back, talked with someone, and came back telling me I'd received a 20% discount because of the rescue work I'd done. Thank doG. Saved me a little over $600.00. No new van, won't be eating out much, or fencing the jumpers ring, or making extra trips into town, or entering many trials, but we're a two yorkie household again. It's good to have her home. I'm guessing she stepped on a little rock just right to cause the broken bones. shrug with a dog that small, it's hard telling. she could've been careening around and gone arse over teakettle and hurt herself on nothing at all. Is this possible that she has weak bones due to her raw diet? hope she's better soon. that's a new one. why would a raw diet be especially apt to create weak bones? -- shelly http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette http://cat-sidh.blogspot.com/ http://letters-to-esther.blogspot.com/ (updated 4/3/05) |

Dietary imbalance? It's so easy to mess up, and you never realize you've messed up until you start having health problems. It sounds as if the health problems are present, and hopefully if she can't find the cause, she will think outside the box and help her dogs. |

Dietary imbalance? why do you think that? perfectly healthy bones break. It's so easy to mess up, and you never realize you've messed up until you start having health problems. It sounds as if the health problems are present, and hopefully if she can't find the cause, she will think outside the box and help her dogs. when i hear "congenital heart defect," dietary imbalance isn't the first thing that pops into my head. -- shelly http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette http://cat-sidh.blogspot.com/ http://letters-to-esther.blogspot.com/ (updated 4/3/05) |
