mo painful bowel movements
So, I took my dog to the vet last week. X-Rays, rectal exam, painkillers and
stool softener. The vet thought maybe a spinal injury because her tail seems tender when lifted by a human. But the dog will leap off the bed when she hears my girlfriend unlock the front door. She will walk on her hind legs to get a whiff of food being eaten by humans. The dog's disposition is great---energetic, outgoing, willing to eat anything, but when it comes time to defecate, she turns her heard towards her rump and begins to spin like she's chasing her tail. Instead of squatting, she rolls to one side while defecating , obviously in pain. Now she's on a bland diet and off the painkillers and taking longer walks sinces she's 'holding it' to avoid the pain - my analysis. Any thoughts? Thanks. John "Rocky" wrote in message ... Redlocks said in rec.pets.dogs.health: For the past two days my 9 1/2 year old dog has wimpered when doing a bowel movement. The quantity appears to have been cut short. Her diet hasn't changed. Any thoughts? Partial blockage or impaction, bone shard, gland infection... It's time to see the vet. -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. Could also be a neck or back problem that causes pain when squatting. I second Matt's suggestion to see the vet. Rox |
