Mosquito magnet
OK this is not really a canine behavior problem but in the
absence of a rec.pet.mosquitoes.behavior newsgroup I'll ask it here. In mosquito season our Anatolian (http://kanyak.com/utd/utd.html) is a mosquito magnet. Mosquitoes cluster about him like stars around a local center of attraction. Kanyak, a Dobe mix, on the other hand has no such problems. As far as mosquitoes are concerned, he's invisible. The really weird thing is that the mosquitoes don't go for Urger's nose or other exposed bits. They settle instead on his back and haunches, but particularly on his mane, where his coat is thickest and where it's easiest to pound them into oblivion. I have been to Italy with 6 other people and *I* am the only one to get bitten, and I attract them in huge numbers, and have bad allergic reactions to them to boot! Make sure your dogs is non HW preventative of course, and some natural bug repellants (like Avon Skin So Soft) MAY help. -- Janet B www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bestfr...bedience/album |
