Default How many Aspirin...?

My female Mastiff has an on-going limp which the Vet say's "just is"...I
have found liver tasting Aspirin which she will eat...My question is about
safety...Is it OK for her to have 2-3 per day or am I risking harming her
stomach?....Thanks in advance...GG

........Geez, Gary, don't know. What does your dog weigh? 130 pounds or so?
I would think she could have 2 a day - AM and PM, but I'd check with the vet
to be sure. Give them with food. I don't believe in *just is* limps.
She's not that old is she? I take it they did X-rays, etc. Are her elbows
OK? Weren't you trying to get pills down her for something before? Any
chance she has a tick borne disease?

I had a 60 lb husky mix who took 2 aspirin a day for arthritis for a couple
of years before we switched him to prescription pain medication. Judging
the difference in weight I'd guess you could give her two a day without any
problems but you really need ask your vet. Any time you give a dog pain
medication you have to watch for throwing up, blood in the stools and if
they stop eating or won't eat like they did. If you notice any of them stop
the medication immediately and get the dog to the vet ASAP since these could
be signs of internal bleeding.
