.........what kind of ear drops are you using? Do you know if it's yeast,
bacterial or ear mites? Does your dog go swimming a lot?

Here's what I do when my Black Lab gets an ear infection.

1. Get a package of those circular cotton pads from your local pharmacy.
They are better than cotton balls since they can be rolled up into a
tube shape.
1.a. Don't Use Q-Tips.
2. get a bottle of ear cleanser and astringent from your vet.
You definitely want the kinds that will dry up the stuff down there.
3. Douse 3 or 4 of the cotton pads with the solution and put them in easy reach.
3.a. Don't EVER use q-tips in your dogs ear.
4. Get your dog's head in a hammerlock.
5. flip up the ear.
6. Try not to gag from the overpowering stench that pours out of the ear.
7. With your free hand rollup one of the saturated pads into a tube and
insert it into your dog's ear. Push it deep and work it around.
7.a. Never, ever, ever use a Q-tip in your dog's ear.
8. Pull it out. If it is brown get a fresh pad and repeat
step 7 until you are either out of pads or they come out clean or your dog
manages to escape.
9. When finished release your dog and back away hastily because
10. Damn!
11. Your dog violently shakes his head, splattering you with the contents of
his ear.
12. Do this daily until the awful muck in your dog's ear is cleared out and
stays out.

Hope this helps,
Rudy Vener
