Default Dog Eating Feces

I have two dogs and my English Setter has been eating feces, both his
own as well as my other dog's feces. On walks, he will eat other dog's
feces as well.He is of proper weight and I feed him once a day, canned
Pedigree and for a dry dog food I use Purina One. This is discusting
and I hope I can get some guidance as to what I might do to get him to
quit this. I cannot watch him on a 24/7 basis.

thank you so much.

This is very common. All I can suggest is the following:
. Immediately pick up the poo in the areas over which you have
control.
. On walks, keep him on a leash and pay attention.
. Try a different food.

For what it's worth, no matter the reason he started eating poo,
he now likes it and it's become a habit you have to break. You
probably won't have to keep him on leash forever, just until
you've taught a good recall or a good "leave it." My Rocky
was/is a poo eater, though now only when it's winter frozen or
sun dried - both are avoidable situations.

As to watching your Setter on a 24/7 basis, of course that's not
possible in most situations, but your *care* should be 24/7.
That is, when he's not supervised, he should be in a situation
where he can't do what you don't want him to do.

What exactly is your problem, and why do you want so badly to be
killfiled?

Janet,

I value your input so I have decided in the future to refrain from
replies to the troll known as Jerry Howe. I apologize for the
nuisance.

That's it "bringmewater" - you've crossed the magic line into my

Some people said they thought this guy is a troll. Clearly
not - he's just a plain, old-fashioned pantsload.
