Default Chew Toys

Does anyone know a web site where I can pick up really strong soft toys for
a dog? I have yet to get one that my little 10 pound dog does not rip the
guys out of in an hour or less.

Thanks

We get all kinds of soft toys as prizes at flyball tournaments and in a
household that includes two BCs and a JRT their lifespan is measured in
minutes. I give them their toys, they gut them, I pick up the pieces,
salvage the squeakers and throw the rest away.
I experimented with making my own really tough stuffed toys out of 1000
denier cordura (this is the stuff heavy duty backpacks and duffle bags
are made of) stuffed with fiberfill and salvaged squeakers.
They do last substantially longer during supervised play - fetch,
tugging, etc., but the JRT managed to make off with one of them and
gnawed a hole right through the cordura to get the squeaker out. Took
him all of 5 minutes. So I've come to the conclusing that soft toys, no
matter how tough, are not for unsupervised use.
Toys that tend to last longer are Kongs, tennis balls, and braided
fleece tugs (although again, only with supervision).

When my chihuahuas were young, I looked for the same thing. To no
avail. I started buying stuffed toys at garage sales and rummage
sales, at 25-50 cents each, and just keeping an eye out for loose
hard plastic bits like eyes.

My little guys did enjoy gutting them!

I did this, too - good sized used stuffed toys for 99 cents at
Value Village and the Sally Ann.

Rocky would spend much of the day gutting them. This was cheap
entertainment for me - watching him savage woobies. When woobie
guts started showing up in his poop (even *with* supervision,
the sneaky devil managed to scarf some fluffy innards), I had to
curtail this type of inexpensive and enjoyable entertainment.

Ah, too bad! Watching them is half the fun, isn't it? One toy that
was thoroughly enjoyed was a multi-footed stuffed bug ... until
Chile puked up one of the feet.

My little guys are 14 now, and they don't show much interest in
gutting bunnies (our name for stuffed toys, which started with their
first one, a small pink rabbit) anymore.
