An electronic fence sounds like a pretty good solution
to this situation. I assume that your parents' yard is

I do know she's not here with us. I really can't
blame anyone here for her loss. I'm the one
who ignored your advice.

I did it because of how you write/wrote.
I was unwilling to accept the idea
that my using a shock collar could have
any bearing on Peach not wanting to stay
home.

Up until I started using it my main concern
had been keeping my dogs in their own yard.
Once I started using the e-fence...well,
then my concern became how to keep
them from running off for days on end.

I lost valuable training time becoming
embroiled in the anti-shock debate and
the "Jerry sux" tirades.

I lost one dog but I have the bestest dog in
the world now g A Wits End Trained dog,
one who is completely housetrained,
doesn't chew up stuff, stays in the yard,
and doesn't bark all the time.

IOW a great companion and friend.

home one day and one of the dogs was dead and the other
was severely injured.

dog will sleep on the couch, two dogs will try to find out

All pit bulls (including american staffordshire terriers,
bull terriers and staffordshire bull terriers) descend from
lines that were selectively bred to fight other dogs.

Even with the necessary socialization and obedience training,
many will throw down into a fight if push comes to shove and
things go bad. This tough guy attitude with other dogs can
get them (and you!) into real trouble if not understood and
not managed well.

Some pits can never mix with other dogs, some (youngsters
especially) do just fine with other dogs, and some only
with dogs they know or dogs of the opposite sex. Pit bulls
mature late, and many can be A-Okay with dogs as a puppy...

But WATCH OUT!

Their dog tolerance will begin to shift when they reach
maturity...typically between the age of 1 and 3 years or
anytime after. Much of this will depend on the individual
bag of genetics your dog inherits, not "how he was raised".

No wonder so many are confused about the breed!
