Default Algae in dogs water

I recently bought my dogs a water cooler sized water tank for them to drink
from and am finding that now that there is warmer weather algae keeps on
growing in the bowl at the bottom of it.

Does anyone have any suggestions how this can be avoided? Is there something
I can add to the water/bowl that the algae doesn't like but won't affect the
dogs or change the taste of the water?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mark
