Be V-E-R-Y careful. There are many unknowledgeable "breeders" selling
pups that are genetic disasters waiting to grow up and show off their
I strongly suggest going to the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America
website (Google).... read a lot, take the survey to see if the breed
really is a good match for you. And go from there. They do try to
encourage their members to test for genetic problems and breed
responsibly. And they are extremely Honest about the breed....
This is a very active and very intelligent breed. THey regularly make
unsuspecting new owners extremely frustrated. Plan on a puppy
kindergarden class AND a basic obedience class from a Good source (not
at the pet supply store) that is recommended by your vet.
And somewhere along the road in your search, Google up the Jack Russell
Terrier Rescue folks and talk to them about the most common reasons
dogs end up looking for new homes.,, and whether they think you would be
a good fit. They will not just be extremely honest, they will be
JRTs are great fun, but only if you are at least half terrier yourself.
You also must be the leader. That takes effort.
