Phantom itch?
Here’s an interesting one. 11 y.o. male beagle has been occasionally scratching at the sternum for several weeks now. There are no fleas, flea bites, other bugs or skin irritations and he does not scratch at it hard or long -- just a few light swipes. He will do it with either rear paw and is not scratching at any other part of the body. Nor is he chewing at his paws or showing other signs of allergy.
It almost seems like a neurological thing either triggering the scratching reflex (but in BOTH rear legs?!) or a mild itching sensation at that spot for which there does not appear to be any external cause. He’s normal in all other respects (well, as normal as a beagle can be). Has not seen vet about this yet as he doesn’t seem at all bothered by it. Anyone ever encounter anything like this before? |

At his age I wonder if he is bothered by the forming of a fatty growth or
something on or in the chest, and it is the only reaction he can come up with. "dirtyoldeggsuckinhound" m wrote in message . com...
