Alberta "Ban The Pit Bull" poll
Pits and related breeds/mixes are already banned in Alberta's
capital, Edmonton. In my city, Calgary, the head of bylaw services is against BSL of all types. This poll, though, is about a province-wide ban, and provincial law trumps local bylaws. So far, it's running about 50/50. The poll is only good for today (July 27) until probably midnight mountain time. http://www.canada.com/calgary/index.html At the page bottom. -- --Matt. It's going to be a close one, no doubt. -- Paula "Anyway, other people are weird, but sometimes they have candy, so it's best to try to get along with them." Joe Bay |

rec.pets.dogs.breeds: As of 7:03 Pacific, it's a little over 50% for. It's going to be a close one, no doubt. It'll be an interesting result. Pit Pulls aren't a popular breed in Calgary so JQP gets a large amount of the breed information from the press - which tends to sensationalise human-APBT encounters. And I *do* mean sensationalise, even from the "good" side, as in "Pit Bull Rescues Timmy from the Well: Who would have thought!" One of my new dog daycare clients is an easy going Rottie. He had to leave a friendly competitor when their new business landlord excluded Rotts, Pits, Dobes, Mastiffs, and look-a- likes. And this is without BSL. -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |

They are not banned in Edmonton..they are considered restricted. I thought that Alberta has a Agreesive dog act in place.
