poor puppy :-(
Lexi had a bad start today. I'd fed him and Cassie, and was
sitting on the floor near Lexi's bowl, when he came walking over and all of a sudden yelped! And leapt up and wouldn't put down one paw. I inspected the paw, and discovered that he had a pin or needle or something stuck completely through one toe pad! As in, going in near the claw, and out the back. I tried to see if I could pull it out, but he was scared, and I was scared. Finally I just told my husband that I needed to go to the vet. It was just past 7:30, but I figured they would be open for drop-offs at least. So I walked in and told them I had a minor emergency. They took him in back, and came out less than a minute later. All it took was a little confidence. lol. Anyway, what it looks like is half of a needle -- the sharp end, but broken off halfway. I'm getting ready for company, so the floor is much cleaner than usual, but I guess there's no telling what lurks down there. :-( What really confuses me is how it got pushed so far through. It seems like that would take some force, and he's so light! Anyway, all's well that ends well. The vet tech got the needle out, and they didn't even charge me. Lexi was running around showing no signs of tenderness. And I was back home in time for my husband to get to work on time! Bizby |
